The role and responsibilities of Gwynedd Economic Partnership and it’s Steering Group is to develop a local development strategy for Gwynedd and supervising its implementation through promoting the integration and co-ordination of economic development activities across the county thus utilising the opportunities to develop and implement new economic development schemes.
In general terms, the role and responsibilities of Gwynedd Economic Partnership’s Steering Group Members include:
- Developing a local development strategy for the area
- Developing structures, processes and arrangements for the implementation of a local development strategy for the area
- Monitor the development and implementation of the local development strategy for the area
- Contributing towards targeting the resources available to address needs in Gwynedd and in identifying opportunities that will further develop the economy
- Providing views on projects seeking funds from regional, national or European sources and the delivery of regional or national economic development activities
- Monitoring the activities of the organisations appointed to deliver of the local development strategy and that regulatory financial requirements are adhered to
- Ensuring that robust, good value for money and well developed projects that address needs and will have a positive impact on the local economy are brought forward and selected for appraisal and are funded
- Monitoring the implementation and results of economic development projects delivered locally
- Facilitating the integration and co-ordination of economic development activities in Gwynedd
- Promoting local economic development activities and programmes in Gwynedd
A few programmes have already been implemented:
- the Rural Development Plan for Wales
- the Rural Community Action programme
- the West Wales and the Valleys Objective 1 Programme (2000 - 2006) and
- the European Union’s Convergence and Territorial Co-operation programmes (2007 - 2013)

Llwyddo’n Lleol
Llwyddo’n Lleol is a sub Group of Gwynedd Economic Partnership which looks at ways of promoting economic development amongst young people. The aims of the group are as follows:
- to foster and develop young people to become enterprising within their communities
- to enable them to contribute to the development of their area
- to assist them to become participators, contributors and future stakeholders within the local economy
- to give them the skills, know-how, hands-on experience and confidence to do so.
Target Groups
- Young People between 13-30 years
- Welsh Speaking Communities
- Micro and small businesses (including product clusters and co-operatives).
