Bethan Russell OwenBethan Russell Owen - Chief Officer

Bethan was born and raised in Llanbedrog, Llŷn. She attended the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and graduated with B.A.(hons) in Welsh Language/Literature in 1987 and LL.B. (hons) in Law in 1989.
During 1989-90 she attended Christleton Hall Law College in Chester before completing a term of Solicitor Traineeship with a firm of solicitors in Pwllheli. She then spent a period working in the Contracts Department with the BBC in Llandaf, Cardiff as a Contracts Executive before embarking on a period of working as a Lecturer in Law and Business from 1992 to 1996.

She joined the Voluntary Sector in 1996 as a Tutor Organiser for the Workers Educational Association with responsibility for Gwynedd. When the WEA merged with Coleg Harlech in 2003 she was appointed Deputy Director of the new organisation.
In 2006, after a period of 10 years with the WEA she was appointed Chief Officer of Mantell Gwynedd.

Services Team


Meinir JonesMeinir Jones - Support Services’ Senior Officer
Office - Caernarfon
Work Hours –
Part Time - 4 days – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Meinir was appointed as a Developent Officer for Mantell Gwynedd in April 1998. She originally comes from Cwm Nantcol in Meirionnydd but has lived in Llŷn for the last 25 years. Before joining the Mantell Gwynedd team she worked for a short while as a Community Development Worker for Cymad and used to teach at Llandwrog primary school and on other primary residential courses for children in Glynllifon.

She has been involved with numerous local community projects. For a time she was leader of the Cylch Meithrin in Edern and the Urdd and has worked as an Adult Learning Tutor. She was one of the founder members of the Menter y Fic, Llithfaen community venture and Cwmni Drama Bro Enlli. She is a co-editor of Llanw Llŷn community newspaper and in 2004 she was elected to represent Nefyn on Gwynedd Council.
She is responsible for the Support Services Team within Mantell Gwynedd.


Ann Vaughan JonesAnn Vaughan Jones - Children & Young People Facilitator / Information Officer
Office - Caernarfon

Work Hours – Full Time – 4 days Facilitator and 1 day Information Officer

Ann joined the team at Mantell Gwynedd beginning of June 2005 as full time Information Officer. She provided local voluntary and community groups in Gwynedd with relevant, accessible information. She was also responsible for all of Mantell Gwynedd’s internal information systems including the newsletter, the database and the website. In October 2007, Ann was appointed part time Children and Young People Facilitator with Mantell, offering support to Third Sector representatives on the Gwynedd Children and Young people’s Partnership as well as contributing directly and being a voice for the Sector on a number of joint working groups. Ann will also be supporting and developing ways of effective networking by strengthening the work of the Gwynedd Children and Families Forum.

Before joining Mantell she worked as Careers Assistant and Management Information Systems Administrator for Careers Wales in Caernarfon. Her background and main interests are in art and design and in her preparation for Mantell’s printing material, this creative side becomes apparent.
She’s been active with a number of local voluntary organisations including the Urdd as well as other programmes for young people. She is a Governor at Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle and most recent a representative on the Llanllyfni Community Council.


Mair HuwsMair Huws -Communities First Support Officer
Office - Dolgellau
Work Hours -
2 days per week (usually Tuesday and Wednesday, but regularly goes to evening meetings)

Mair was appointed as the Communities First Support Officer for Barmouth, Bowydd & Rhiw and Blaenau Ffestiniog in September 2005. Before that, she was the Mantell Gwynedd’s Development Officer for Meirionnydd from July 1997. She graduated from Coleg Normal, Bangor in 1994 and was a primary school teacher for almost three years before joining Mantell Gwynedd.

She has extensive experience of working with a wide range of voluntary organisations through her work and also on a personal basis within her own community.


Carys WilliamsCarys Williams – Communities First Support Officer

Carys came to work at Mantell Gwynedd in June 2003 as Key Fund Officer. She previously worked as European Administrative Officer on the Disablement Gwynedd Project which was a partnership project between Menter Fachwen, Antur Waunfawr and Agoriad. Since October 2005 she has worked as Communities First Support Officer in Arfon and Dwyfor.

Carys’ main interests are reading and traveling, especially to France! Regionally and nationally she is active with Urdd Gobaith Cymru, she is secretary to the area committee and represents Eryri on the central committees. She is treasurer to her local paper Lleu in Dyffryn Nantlle and is vice-chair to the local History Society.


Delyth VaughanDelyth Vaughan – Grants and Support Officer

Delyth Vaughan joined the Mantell Gwynedd team in January 2006 after working as a Development Officer for Tabernacl Bethesda Cyf community project – ‘Pesda Roc’. Her main roles are dealing with various and numerous grant enquiries by voluntary and community groups, administrating and managing grant funds such as the Galluogi Gwynedd Fund, Child and Family Support Grant and Caergylchu Fund as well as development work with groups.

Delyth graduated from University of Wales Bangor in 2003 where she gained a joint-honours degree in Welsh and Music. While working as a Development Officer she was elected to Voluntary Arts Wales’s Board and elected a member of the Voluntary Sector Compact Working Group. Delyth has also been elected as one of Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s Vice-President for the next 3 years.


Finance and Administration Team


Ceren WilliamsCeren Williams - Deputy Chief Officer and Head of Fianance and Operations Team

Ceren joined Mantell Gwynedd in 2001, having worked for 9 years with Cyfle Cyf, the registered charity which provides training for the TV and Film Industry in Wales, funded by European and S4C funds. Ceren began her career in the 80’s looking after the finances of Antur Ieuenctid Gwynedd, a youth opportunities scheme, funded by the MSC.

Ceren is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, and attained NVQ level 4 in Accounting whilst studying at Llandrillo College.

She has over 20 years experience of working in charity finance. She is experienced in dealing with European, public and National Assembly funds.


Bronwen RowlandsBronwen Rowlands - Administrative Officer

Bronwen’s career started with the Gwynedd Rural Council in 1977. She was appointed as a Clerk/Typist for their office in Dolgellau and was in the post for seven years. In 1992 she was appointed as Administrative Officer again with the Gwynedd Rural Council at their Dolgellau office and was in the post until March 1997. During this time Gwynedd Rural Council was re-named as Gwynedd Voluntary Services. In April 1997 there was a Government re-organisation and the name changed again, this time to Mantell Gwynedd where she took on the post of full time Administrative Officer in Caernarfon.


Beryl NorgroveBeryl Norgrove - Administrative Assistant

Beryl was appointed as Administrative Assistant in the Dolgellau Office of Mantell Gwynedd in April 2000 after working as a part time Secretary and Administrative Officer at the Meirionnydd Young Farmers Office since 1982. She also worked for a period of four years between 1994 and 1998 with Urdd Gobaith Cymru in Dolgellau. Beryl is responsible for all the administrative work in the Dolgellau Office as well as receiving articles for Mantell’s Newsletter and assisting the Information Officer.

She was born and brought up in Llanelltyd near Dolgellau, and now lives in Dolgellau and has been involved with helping several voluntary organisations over the years, which means she has much local knowledge.


Tracy Lynne RobertsTracy Lynne Roberts - Administrative Assistant

As an administrator, Tracy joined the Consumer Unit at Mantell Gwynedd in 2002 following the completion of an NVQ2 Business and Administration course at Coleg Menai, Caernarfon. When the Consumer Unit scheme came to an end in March 2006, she moved on to work as administrator for both the Grants and Support unit and the Health and Social Care unit, as well as working in reception.

Tracy enjoys spending her free time reading and gardening, and what combination works better than reading in the garden on a nice, warm day!


 

Volunteer Bureau Team



Rhianon JonesRhianon Jones – Volunteering Co-ordinator
Office – Caernarfon
Work Hours –
Part time – 25 hours a week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning and Thursday.

Originally form the Conwy Valley. After graduating in Pure Mathematics in the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, Rhianon worked as a Mathematics teacher in Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle, Penygroes for nearly 10 years. Following a period at home raising a family, she became involved with various local voluntary organisations. She joined the Volunteering Team at Mantell Gwynedd in February 2001, initially as an outreach officer, and moved on to her present post in July 2001. As part of her work, she is responsible for giving information to individuals who are interested in volunteering; keeping contact with organisations that need volunteers to help with their work and promote volunteering in general. As the ‘Volunteer Co-ordinator’, she is responsible for the Gwynedd Volunteering Bureau’s Team.



Iola TillIola Till – Volunteering Officer

Iola has worked in the Gwynedd Volunteering Centre since 2001 and during that time has met many interesting people, all enthusiastic about volunteering. Her main work is giving individuals information about volunteering opportunities that are available in Gwynedd and to promote volunteering in general with organisations and the public.

Many community groups in the Clynnogfawr area have gained from Iola’s help and experiences during the past years and she is always willing to give her time to help a good cause. Before joining the Mantell Gwynedd team she worked as a Development Officer with TPAS Cymru.



Ann Angharad FlemingAnn Angharad Fleming – Volunteering Officer

Work Hours – Part time – 3 days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Ann joined the Gwynedd Volunteering Centre team in January 2003. The nature of her role with the Gwynedd Volunteering Centre is to promote volunteering generally – her main responsibility being for Merionnydd.

Ann produces information about volunteering opportunities for the public, recruits volunteers and places people with appropriate organisations. She is also available to visit groups and give talks about her work.

She comes from a nursing background which developed into the field of health promotion, and in 1990 she ventured into the field of business in her home town of Tywyn where she opened a restaurant known as Healthy Eating. As a result of her venture she continues to promote health voluntarily through sharing her knowledge and experience with others and is glad of every opportunity to do so.


Mirain RobertsMirain Roberts - Youth Volunteering Officer
Office – Caernarfon
Work Hours – Full Time

Mirain joined the staff at Mantell Gwynedd at the end of April 2007. Her role is to promote volunteering amongst young people and to give them information about volunteering opportunities in Gwynedd. Although Mirain is available to deal with all volunteering enquiries, her main focus is to promote volunteering amongst young people.

Mirain will also be available outside office hours to visit organisation’s and groups of young people.

One of Mirain’s main interests is singing with her local choir ‘Lleisiau’r Mignedd’. Also in her spare time she enjoys working with groups of young people in her local area to develop community projects. In addition to this she volunteers as the secretary to the ‘Cwmni Ifanc Tŷ’r Ysgol’ project based in Caernarfon.

Before joining Mantell, she worked for the Gwynedd Children and Young People’s Partnership and for a while worked with local youth clubs at night through her work as a forum worker in the Arfon area.


Health & Social Care


Sioned Llwyd LarsenSioned Llwyd Larsen – Health and Social Care Facilitator

Full Time

Sioned was appointed to this post in September 2004 under the Building Strong Bridges initiative initiated by the Welsh Assembly.

Sioned has worked in various posts within the voluntary and statutory sector over the years including the following - teaching adults in further education, partnership development manager, research and development work, just to mention a few.

Brought up in Parc near Bala, she has a good understanding of the needs of the county. She is very interested in health & well-being related issues and has seen from personal experience the benefit of lifestyle changes she has made over the last few years.
